Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day1Arrival → Negombo or Colombo
Meet at the airport and enjoy a warm welcome. Transfer to your hotel. If staying in Negombo, relax after the flight, take a sunset walk on Negombo Beach, and visit the Dutch Canal & Fish Market. Alternatively, if staying in Colombo, visit Pettah Market, walk through Galle Face Green, visit the Colombo Museum, and the Lotus Tower. Enjoy a relaxed evening/night. Travelling distance: Airport to Negombo is 15 km (20 min) or Colombo is 30 km (30-45 min).
Day2Negombo/Colombo → Sigiriya
Departure after breakfast. On the way to Sigiriya, visit the historic Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with beautiful Buddha statues and murals. Experience a traditional Sri Lankan village tour in Habarana. Enjoy an optional Ayurveda massage to rejuvenate. Overnight stay in Sigiriya. Distance: 155 km (3.5 hrs).
Day3Sigiriya & Wildlife Safari
Embark on a sunrise climb of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Explore multiple scenic viewpoints, frescoes of the celestial maidens, the Mirror Wall, Royal Gardens, and the summit palace ruins. Enjoy an authentic village tour experience including a traditional Sri Lankan village lunch. In the afternoon/evening, go on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park or Kaudulla National Park, famous for large gatherings of Asian elephants, deer, crocodiles, and diverse bird species. Return to Sigiriya for overnight stay. Distance: 115 km (Sigiriya to Minneriya/Kaudulla and back).
Day4Sigiriya to Kandy
Departure after breakfast. Stop at the Matale Spice Garden to learn about Sri Lankan spices. Upon reaching Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and museum. Walk around the scenic Kandy Lake, visit Kandy View Point, and explore the Gem Museum. In the evening, watch a traditional Kandyan Cultural Dance Show. Overnight stay in Kandy. Distance: 90 km (2.5 hrs).
Day5Kandy → Nuwara Eliya
Departure after breakfast. Enjoy one of the most scenic drives in Sri Lanka, passing through lush tea estates, waterfalls, and misty mountain landscapes. Visit a tea plantation and factory, including a tea tasting experience. Explore Victoria Park, Lover's Leap Waterfall, Seetha Amman Temple, Ramboda Falls, Gregory Lake, Hakgala Botanical Garden, and enjoy the sunset at Moon Plains. Optional: A full-day trip to Horton Plains National Park (9.5 km walking on circular road). Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya. Distance: 80 km (2.5 hrs).
Day6Nuwara Eliya to Ella
Departure after breakfast. Explore the iconic Nine Arch Bridge and hike up Little Adam's Peak. Visit Lipton's Seat, experience the Flying Ravana Mega Zipline, and check out the Demodara Railway Crossing Loop and Ravana Falls. Overnight stay in Ella. Distance: 60 km (2 hrs).
Day7Ella to Yala
Departure after breakfast. Head south to Yala National Park. Go on an exciting evening safari jeep ride to spot leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, peacocks, monkeys, and other wildlife. Overnight stay in Yala or Tissamaharama. Distance: 130 km (2-2.5 hrs).
Day8Yala → Mirissa
Departure after breakfast. Drive along the scenic southern coastline. Visit the Hummanaya Blowhole close to Dikwella. Arrive in Mirissa, relax on the beach, and hike up Coconut Tree Hill for a gorgeous sunset view. Overnight stay in Mirissa. Distance: 140 km (2.5 hrs).
Day9Exploring Mirissa & Galle Dutch Fort
Go on a morning whale and dolphin watching tour (optional & seasonal). See traditional stilt fishing, then visit Galle Dutch Fort, its historic lighthouse, and colonial streets. Relax at Unawatuna beach or enjoy a sea bath. Overnight stay in Mirissa. Distance: 90 km.
Day10Mirissa to Colombo (BIA) Departure
Departure after breakfast. Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake for your flight home, ending a memorable journey through ancient wonders and wild adventures. Distance: 175 km (2.5 hrs).
