Kandy
The hill country's sacred heart, home to the Buddha's most revered relic
About Kandy
Set around a beautiful central lake and surrounded by lush hills, Kandy was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. It is the cultural heart of the island and home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. The cool climate, the vibrant Esala Perahera festival, the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, and traditional Kandyan dance performances make it a rich cultural destination.
