Wasgamuwa National Park
Off-the-beaten-path elephants in Sri Lanka's rugged riverside jungle
About Wasgamuwa National Park
Wasgamuwa National Park is bordered by the Mahaweli and Amban rivers, creating a lush environment in the dry zone. It is famous for its large herds of elephants, which are completely wild and less accustomed to jeeps than those in other parks. The park also features ancient ruins and a diverse landscape of riverine forests and grasslands, making it a fantastic off-the-beaten-path destination.
