Koggala

Tranquil cinnamon-island lake and one of Sri Lanka's longest unspoiled beaches

About Koggala

Koggala is a quiet coastal town featuring one of the longest beaches in Sri Lanka. It was the birthplace of renowned Sri Lankan author Martin Wickramasinghe, whose childhood home is now a fascinating folk art museum. Beyond the beach, Koggala Lake is a large, serene body of water dotted with islands. Boat safaris on the lake reveal cinnamon islands, ancient temples, and diverse birdlife.
