Gal Oya National Park

Where elephants swim between islands on Sri Lanka's most unique boat safari

About Gal Oya National Park

Gal Oya National Park is unique among Sri Lanka's wildlife reserves because a significant portion of the safari is done by boat on the Senanayake Samudra reservoir. This provides the extraordinary opportunity to see wild elephants swimming between islands. The park is deeply forested and remains one of the most untouched and pristine wilderness areas in the country.
